Peeping Bloom
This Amber Eyed Peeping Bloom always keeps an eye out for dreamers lost in slumber. Our internal landscapes are vast and complicated. We could all use a friendly guide in the upside down of our imagination. Where do you go when you sleep?

?? Lunar Light Bloom ? detail
Photographing my work helps shift my perspective from maker to viewer. In the middle of a project, all I can see is potential and problems to solve. This last step of documenting turns it all back into magic. I get to discover new details, play with perspective, and think about all the patterns I’ve found in a lifetime of making things.
You can see all the new stuff I’ve been working on at the encore reception of Journey to Terra Flora at Galeria Regina Saturday, August 17th, 5-9pm.

Another stage in the Golden Toothed Beauty build
I only had a couple weeks to make this, so it was a lot of experimenting and pushing forward without all the planning I normally do. Here I was trying out a flexible rope and foam stem, which would’ve made it more like a snake flower. I ended up going a different direction with it, but I’m still kinda into this idea. What do you guys think? Are there snake flowers in my future?
Sculpting part lines for the alien bloom mold
The bumps act as keys that lock the mold sections into place for casting. I drew vent placement on the clay, and cut them into the finished silicone to prevent trapped air.
Cutting teeth for the Golden Toothed Beauty
They’re made out of L200, a closed-cell foam used in puppet and costume fabrication. It’s heat formable, can be carved/ sanded, and it’s easy to paint. I used this foam for most of the flower, finishing the surface with neoprene and acrylics to give it a resilient rubbery skin.
There’ll be an encore reception at Galeria Regina August 17th 5-9pm if you missed seeing this toothy beast the first time around.
Thanks so much to everyone who came out last night!
The show turned out great, and I’ve really enjoyed sharing it with you. It’s been fantastic collaborating with such hardworking talented artists @danielcurranart. Special thanks to @ryshu for planning and organizing this show on top of making awesome work and Galeria Regina for hosting another wonderful show. If you missed the opening or want to take a second look, the art will continue to hang through August, and we’ll have an encore reception August 17th. I’ll be posting more behind the scenes photos here in the meantime.
