Before and after holographic powder. Holographic powder is translucent, so the first step is always creating an underpainting that deepens the natural shadows and boosts the highlights.
Solar Fire Bloom ? close up
The petals are finished with a color shifting chameleon paint, and the inside piece is painted with holographic pigment that reflects rainbow. See it in person along with fantastic new work by @ryshu and @danielcurranart this Saturday, August 17th 5-9 at Galeria Regina.
?? Lunar Light Bloom ? detail
Photographing my work helps shift my perspective from maker to viewer. In the middle of a project, all I can see is potential and problems to solve. This last step of documenting turns it all back into magic. I get to discover new details, play with perspective, and think about all the patterns I’ve found in a lifetime of making things.
You can see all the new stuff I’ve been working on at the encore reception of Journey to Terra Flora at Galeria Regina Saturday, August 17th, 5-9pm.
Lunar Dusk Bloom detail
