Painting blacklight puppets at the Center for Puppetry Arts. Their new production, Harold and the Purple Crayon, is based on a book by Crockett Johnson, adaptation by John Ludwig. Puppets designed by Jason Hines.
Loaded Brushes
When I paint in oils, I load up several brushes with colors. I use the loaded brushes to apply the paint, switching to a fresh dry brush to blend and soften the edges.
Beet Guy
I have a few oil paintings and sculptures that I’ve been working on for years. They’re projects just for me, no deadlines. Sometimes I don’t touch them for months, and I have to wash off a layer of dust before diving back in. It’s like seeing an old friend or talking with a past version of myself. This one is finally getting close to done. Still needs tiny pupils for those tiny eyes #wip
Adding more layers
Casting progress
Getting some quick nighttime casting done. I do a lot of process based artwork, which means there’s a lot of waiting around between steps. I find the process moves faster if I’m working on a few projects at once. It allows me to rotate what I’m working on if something needs to dry or cure.
