After I finish a sculpture, I photograph it from as many angles as I can. It’s a great way to explore perspective and composition.
Almost done….
Rainbow pearlescent on top of black and white, before varnish.
Close up of the unvarnished dunny
This is my first time using color change flakes–I can’t wait to see how it looks after the clear coat!
The Froyo Fellas are almost done!
To paint the eyes, I masked out the area and airbrushed them with black acrylic. All that’s left to do is some minor touch ups, assembly, and varnishing! You can find out when these sweeties go up for sale on Etsy by subscribing to my newsletter. Stay tuned for overwhelming cuteness!
Pink in the cheeks!
I added a touch of pink to their cheeks today! The last color to apply is black–to the eyes and my signature on the bottom of the cone. I varnish the casts between coats of paint to keep the acrylic from rubbing off as I handle them.
Second paint layer
For this round, I used a medium golden brown to add mid-tones to the casts.
Tonight I’m cleaning up flavor twist swirls!
I used masking tape to block out the vanilla sides of the swirls to aid in airbrushing the chocolate and strawberry portions. After removing the masking, the next step is touching up over spray/ any areas I missed with the a brush.
