Stardust Dreamer
This one is finished with a ghost chameleon pigment that shifts between blue and purple depending on how the light hits it. Ghost chameleons are transparent and show up best on black. I based the sculpture in black and used silver to create highlights. I also added some transparent washes and holographic glitter over the chameleon pigment to give it extra sparkle.
Sculpting the fur details
It’s as time consuming as it looks, tedious but strangely satisfying. The time I spend on details now sets me up to enjoy painting it down the line. 🖌🖤
More time lapse fun
This shows me working on the core form of the caterpillar. That’s a tiny crockpot off to the side keeping my clay warm
Sunspot Dreamer ☄️️
Detail shot of the Flesh and Blood Dreamer
My work never feels done until it’s documented. Seeing it through the camera shifts my perspective, allowing me view it with fresh eyes. I find unexpected landscapes in the surface, exploring the details as though I’ve just found them 👁.
Things starting to look like things
Process heavy art is slow at the beginning, but it’s worth it to take time to plan. I can’t wait to start color tests! But I will, because I have other work to do first 🤣.
Biopsy Slide Cyanotypes
These are large cyanotypes of biopsy slides I made in college. My professors were always pushing me to work bigger and faster, to leave more things to chance. I love making tiny things, but I also miss working at this scale. One day I’ll get back to it. #makingsmallthingsbig
Sculpting the inside of the flower
The white clay is a hard epoxy, the brown clay is a wax based clay that never hardens and doesn’t stick to things easily. This allows me to mold and cast the parts separately.
Last chance to get your Gumhead!
Only one left 🖤 Thanks so much for all the love you guys have shown these little water sprites. The last one is up on my web shop, coupon code GUMWAD for free shipping.
Gumheads are elemental spirits. They begin as forgotten wads of gum, stuck under tables and chairs. Most bubblegum is ordinary, but every once in a while, through a twist of fate (and a little saliva), old gumwads awaken as mischievous sprites.Sticky and malleable, they love to steal and hoard tiny objects. They’ve got your DNA in them, but gumheads aren’t always friendly. They have a penchant for chaos when left unattended, but are easily won over with gifts and attention. Under the right circumstances, gumheads are fun companions and can bring good luck and adventure.
Cutting open a mold using a weitlaner retractor and surgical scalpel
The zigzag pattern in the silicone helps the mold lock back into place for casting. Eleven minutes condensed into one.
Today is the day!
The last two Very Berry Gumheads are up for sale on my web shop. Free shipping with coupon code GUMWAD, comes with a mini print 🌤

Varnishing
The trick to varnishing is taking the time to apply thin, even coats. Different pigments dry at varying levels of gloss. Varnish gives the paint an even finish and protects the surface. I’ll be taking pictures of this series soon! 🌨
